Charleston Fall Events 2026: Festivals & Things to Do

After months of planning around the heat, fall in Charleston feels like an invitation to get back outside. The temperatures start to cool off, weekends fill up again, and suddenly there’s a reason to spend all day wandering around town.

From outdoor concerts and oyster roasts to pumpkin patches, food and wine festivals, historic home tours and holiday markets, some of Charleston’s best events happen between September and December.

If you’re thinking about moving to Charleston, planning your visit around a local event or two is also one of my favorite ways to experience the city. It gives you an excuse to explore different neighborhoods, spend time outside the usual tourist spots and get a better feel for what an ordinary weekend living in Charleston could actually look like.

And if you already call Charleston home, consider this your reminder to take advantage of it. Here are some of the Charleston fall events and festivals worth adding to your calendar in 2026.

Make a Weekend of It

One of the best parts about fall in Charleston is how much there is to do without needing much of a plan. You can spend the morning at a farmers market, head to a festival in the afternoon, grab dinner somewhere outside and still have time for an evening walk around your neighborhood.

For anyone considering a move to Charleston, these weekends are also a great opportunity to see the Lowcountry beyond the usual vacation itinerary. Explore downtown, but make time for places like James Island, Johns Island, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston and the surrounding communities too. Seeing how each area feels on a normal Saturday can tell you a lot about where you might want to call home.

And if you’re already local, save this list for the next time you find yourself wondering what to do this weekend. Fall doesn’t last forever around here, so we might as well make the most of it.
